This is a two part trip participating in a Parade competition.
The first trip includes competing in the Spokane Jr. Lilac Parade and ends with a trip to Silverwood Amusement Park.
The second trip will depend upon winning the competition.
If we win, we will return to Spokane the following weekend to participate in the Torchlight Parade.
If we do not win, we will attend the Selah Community Days Parade instead.
This is a voluntary trip (due to the financial cost) that offers both a musical
and educational opportunity for your student.
All 6, 7 and 8th grade Marching band and Drill team students who meet
academic and behavioral standards are eligible to attend.

Trip Fees:
The estimated fee for this trip is $300 per student. The fee will include transportation, lodging, entrance to the Silverwood Amusement Park and some meals. This is the maximum possible cost for the combined trips. Several items will determine the actual cost such as, the number of students participating, if the second trip will be to Spokane, how many meals will need to be provided, and funds raised through our upcoming fund raising events.
Once we return, the actual cost will be calculated and any surplus funds will be returned to parents.
The cost for a single weekend is $225 (first weekend only), or $100 (second weekend only).
Please make your check payable to: O. V. Band Boosters and turn it in by Friday, April 16th.
100% refunds can be issued only until April 22nd. After then your refund will be less due to incurred costs.
Rooters/Tag-Along Packages:
For those of who would like to join us on our trip to Spokane we have created the following Tag-Along Packages.
You can take advantage of any or all parts of this program.
Transportation: For those of you who do not want to drive
to Spokane we typically have a limited number of seats available on the charter buses
with the students. These seats are on a space available, first come first
serve basis. Those who travel as rooters are not responsible for chaperoning the students.
If you are hoping for a nice quiet bus ride to Spokane this may not be the way to
go. Round trip cost per weekend is $60.00 per seat. These buses will follow the same schedule as all
the other buses.

Silverwood Amusement Park:
If you would like to join us at the amusement park we will have reduced price admission tickets available at $20.00 per person.
Chaperones and Volunteers:
As we prepare for this event our biggest need will be for chaperones.
Booster Club policy is that we have 1 chaperone per 10 students, but
our goal is to have 1 per 8. We will need both men and women as there may be times when you will
need to enter the student's room. Couples and friends willing to room together will help keep
the lodging cost to a minimum. The Chaperone Committee will contact you if you have been chosen in early April.
This is a big job. chaperones are responsible from the time we get on the bus to leave until we return to Olympic View.
There will be a mandatory chaperone training class during April.
All volunteers must complete a volunteer form and a
Washington State Patrol Volunteer Application Disclosure Form.
Both can be downloaded from this website or contact Jon
Rickey to get the forms.
Non-Chaperoning volunteers will also be needed to assist students at various times, especially during meals.
Uniforms: Students DO NOT wear their uniforms
on the bus ride to Spokane.
Uniforms will be collected on Tuesday, May 4th at Olympic View on the commons stage.
Parents or students bring your complete, clean and pressed uniform to the stage on a hanger, or
neatly folded in a bag.
7:00 AM - 6:00 PM for parents
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM for students
The following is the only acceptable uniform to participate
in the parade:
- Black Drillmaster Marching shoes
- Black socks (calf or knee high)
- White uniform marching pants or black Drum Major pants
- Black uniform belt
- School issued green band shirt, or grey Drum Major shirt (tucked in)
- Sunglasses are acceptable
Our goal is to look UNIFORM or as one.
If you have any questions regarding uniforms please contact
the Uniform Chair.
Student Uniform & Meds Drop Off Procedure Clarification:
Parents, on TUESDAY MAY 4TH your student needs to bring their complete uniform in a paper bag (belt, & black socks placed in the shoes at the bottom of the bags with white underwear, shirts and pants on top).
Please make sure that the uniform fits properly or as well is it is going to (don't worry the shirts are loose).
They can bring the uniform to the band room before school or when they come to band class that day.
Their uniform will be collected, sorted and placed in a garment bag. If they are missing any items they will be given a list of missing items that need to be returned the following day.
If your student has meds that will be sent on the trip, have them bring those to the school the same day.
Meds need to come in Ziploc bags, in the prescription bottle (if applicable), with names on the bag or on sheet of paper
in the bag. They need to be dropped off in the band room before school and they will be placed in a locking cabinet.
Parents, you may also bring meds yourself and drop them off in the locking cabinet that day. If you cannot make it during school hours please contact Cynthia Davis to make arrangements to get us the meds.

Thank You, OV Music Boosters
Miscellaneous:
Medications must be registered with their chaperone and will be collected on uniform gathering night May 4th.
Students will need spending money for two meals, (of fast food) and may want additional funds for the trip to Silverwood. Chaperones can hold the money for your child if desired, but this is an excellent opportunity to learn responsibility.
A full packing list for students can be found at the top of this page. There will only be room for 1 suitcase/duffel and 1 backpack per student.
Students should remember sunscreen.
Bringing electronics is the parent's decision and liability, (not OV Middle school or boosters). No video game consoles please.
Students can bring movies to watch on the bus, but they must be rated G, this is not negotiable.
No swim suits - We will not be going to the water park portion of Silverwood and the hotel swimming pool is off limits.
School Rules: All school rules apply on school-sanctioned
trips. School dress codes are also in force the entire day including the bus
ride and at the amusement park.
